Integrating Technology into Lessons
The purpose of integrating technology into lessons is to create new possibilities and enhance learning capabilities for today’s learners. Lessons integrated with technology open up a whole new world of learning which was not possible before. Children can travel to virtual places on the internet rather than read about them in books, and access resources and information that used to be unimaginable. This type of learning takes critical thinking and exploration of learning to a whole new level. Technology should be integrated into lessons for many reasons. First of all, it can be a very useful tool when trying to tailor lessons to accommodate children with different needs and learning styles. Many times, with the click of a button you can alter the way you are teaching or what the lesson consists of for a child. It is also new and exciting and ever-changing and therefore an easy way to get children engaged and interested in what you are trying to teach. Integrating technology into lesson plans is also important because the real world is technology driven and these types of lessons are more realistic of what jobs and life will consist of for children when they graduate. Children must be prepared to compete in a world that is centered around quickly changing technology. This task may be more difficult if they are not slowly introduced to it through lessons throughout the duration of their education.
